FAQ ▼

1. What is ultra‑thin side‑bending co‑extruded IP68 COB LED strip?

It adopts Chip‑on‑Board packaging with ultra‑thin substrate and one‑piece silicone co‑extrusion molding.

It supports horizontal side‑way bending (left‑right direction) and delivers seamless dot‑free lighting.

Rated IP68, it allows long‑term underwater submersion.

Suitable for underwater contour lighting and outdoor irregular sign applications.

2. What is the difference between ultra‑thin side‑bending co‑extruded COB strip

and ordinary side‑bending COB neon strip?

The ultra‑thin side‑bending co‑extruded design bonds silicone tightly to the strip.

without the inner hollow gap found in conventional sleeved‑tube products, delivering superior waterproof reliability.

Ordinary side‑bending COB neon strips only reach maximum IP67 rating,

while this ultra‑thin side‑bending co‑extruded COB strip achieves IP68 and is submersible.

3. Will the IP68 side‑bending co‑extruded COB strip retain its IP68 rating after cutting?

The original strip body is IP68 rated.

Cutting damages the co‑extruded silicone protective layer and voids waterproof performance.

After cutting and soldering, cut ends must be fully encapsulated with matching dedicated end caps and waterproof sealant.

Proper sealing restores IP68 underwater protection.

4. Will repeated side‑bending cause cracking and water leakage for the ultra‑thin side‑bending

co‑extruded structure?

The one‑piece co‑extruded silicone features excellent tear resistance and flexibility for multiple shape‑forming side bends.

However, repeated heavy back‑and‑forth bending at one single spot is prohibited.

It may trigger silicone and damage PCB copper traces, compromising waterproof performance and internal circuits.

5. Since it is IP68, can the whole assembly be simply dropped into water?

Can power supply and controller also be submerged?

Only the strip body supports long‑term submersion.

For water containing chemical substances, our dedicated pool‑grade IP68 neon strip shall be used instead.

Power supply, controller and wire joints must never be submerged.

They shall be installed inside dry enclosures or above‑water locations, and cable entry points shall be well sealed.

6. Does ultra‑thin side‑bending co‑extruded COB strip support dimming?

It supports standard PWM dimming with compatible constant‑voltage dimmable drivers.

Voltage‑adjust dimming is not recommended, as it will cause abnormal chip operation,

accelerate lumen depreciation and shorten strip service life.

7. What is the cutting unit for ultra‑thin side‑bending co‑extruded COB strip?

Cut strictly along printed cutting marks on PCB. Cutting unit is defined by COB chip grouping circuit.

Random cutting will damage internal circuits and result in dark sections or abnormal lighting behavior.

8. What additional precautions for underwater projects?

Avoid scratching the co‑extruded silicone surface against sharp hard objects.

Release mechanical pulling tension from underwater wiring.

Evaluate voltage drop for multi‑section series runs and add power‑injection points for extra‑long installations.

For water environments with chemical content, select pool‑special neon strip.

9. What are the key points for power‑supply selection?

Use regulated constant‑voltage DC power supply, reserve 20%‑30% power margin based on actual total strip wattage.

Outdoor rain‑proof power supplies are mandatory for underwater projects.

Calculate voltage drop for long‑distance runs and implement multi‑point power‑injection if necessary, to avoid brightness reduction.
