1. What is side‑emitting SMD LED strip?

LEDs are mounted on the edge of PCB board. Light shines horizontally from the side instead of shooting vertically upwards.

It is widely used for wall‑washing, recessed channels and aluminum profiles to achieve soft diffused lighting.

2. What is the main difference between side‑emitting and top‑emitting strip?

Top‑emitting strips shoot light straight upward. For side‑emitting strips, light comes out sideways. 

When used inside profiles, side‑emitting strips deliver smooth lighting without visible LED dot spots.

3. Can side‑emitting strip be cut? What is the cutting unit?

Yes, cut only along the marked cutting lines on PCB. Random cutting will damage circuit and cause partial LEDs failure.

4. Is side‑emitting strip dimmer than top‑emitting version?

 With same LED specification, direct viewing brightness feels lower, yet light output is more diffused.

 For indirect lighting inside profiles, it delivers much smoother lighting performance.

5. What kind of aluminum profile fits side‑emitting strip?

Use special side‑light aluminum channels. The strip shall be attached to profile side wall so light shoots toward diffuser. 

Ordinary top‑light profiles cannot bring out its optical advantage.

6. Does side‑emitting strip support dimming?

 Standard PWM dimming is supported with matching PWM power supply.

 Voltage‑adjust dimming is not recommended, which may cause flicker and uneven brightness.

7. Can side‑emitting strip be made as long‑run no‑voltage‑drop version?

Yes, models with built‑in constant‑current IC realize long‑run single‑end power supply without voltage drop. 

Ordinary resistor‑based versions still suffer voltage drop, so constant‑current IC is preferred for long projects.

8. What should be noticed for outdoor installation?

Select variant with proper IP waterproof rating. For side‑mounted LEDs, 

moisture may easily invade from LED side face under water exposure. All joints must be fully waterproof sealed.

9. What are common installation mistakes for side‑emitting strip?

Do not lay it flat with light facing upward, which will waste most light output. 

Mount it on profile side wall to project light sideways toward diffuser. Keep mounting surface flat to avoid lifting which ruins light effect.
