FAQ ▼

1. What is diffused LED strip? What is the difference between 30° and 160° beam angle?

Diffused LED strip modifies light output via lens or gel to reduce visible LED dot spots.

30° is narrow‑beam for focused accent lighting.

160° wide‑beam spreads light broadly, ideal for channel and indirect lighting for soft diffused effect.

2. Will 30° narrow‑beam diffused strip cause glare?

30° beam is concentrated. Direct viewing will be harsh. It shall not be exposed naked.

Use with profile or shadow‑mask structure for long‑distance wall‑washing or object accent lighting.

3. What are the advantages of 160° wide‑angle diffused strip?

It provides wide light coverage with smooth light transition and nearly invisible LED dots.

Perfect for ceiling cove, cabinet and recessed indirect lighting.

4. Which one is brighter at same power, 30° or 160°?

Total lumen output is similar. 30° narrow beam delivers higher center brightness.

160° spreads light out, lower center brightness but larger illuminated area.

5. Can diffused LED strip be cut? What is the cutting unit?

Yes, cut strictly along printed cutting marks on PCB.

Random cutting will damage circuits and lead to partial LED failure.

6. What requirements for aluminum profile when using diffused strip?

For 30° narrow‑beam strip, relatively shallow profile works for long projection.

For 160° wide‑beam strip, leave enough inner space for light diffusion to prevent glare.

Frosted diffuser cover is highly recommended.

7. Does diffused LED strip support dimming?

Standard PWM dimming is available with compatible PWM power supply.

Voltage‑adjust dimming is not recommended, which may trigger flicker and uneven brightness.

8. Can diffused strip be made as long‑run no‑voltage‑drop version?

Yes, select constant‑current IC version for long‑run single‑end power supply without voltage drop.

Ordinary resistor‑based strip will suffer dim tail over long length.

9. What should be noticed for outdoor installation?

Choose strip with proper IP waterproof rating. Lens‑type structure tends to trap moisture.

All joints and lens edges must be fully sealed against water ingress to prevent LED damage.
